‘Iron Henry’ Wins PokerStars Sunday Title
Online casino PokerStars.com announced that 7,001 people took part in Sunday’s Guaranteed Million tournament with British player ‘Iron Henry’ taking home the eventual top prize of over $163,000.
The high number of players created a total prize pool of just over $1.4 million with ‘Iron Henry’ agreeing to chop the final award with heads-up opponent ‘ShankingYou’ after initially dismissing the idea. Following a break in play that had seen American ’ShankingYou’ close a substantial gap to only a few thousand chips, the two agreed to take home $133,421.20 each before battling it out for the top prize. Iron Henry eventually triumphed to take home the additional $30,000 in cash for a total of $163,421.20 and the title of Sunday Million Champion.
The Isle of Man-based site stated that Norwegian players won both its Sunday Second Chance event and the $5,200 Freeze-out along with the $215 Stud Hi/Lo tournament.
However, Americans benefited the most over the weekend, taking four of the top ten spots in its Guaranteed Million competition. Behind ‘ShankingYou’ in second, American player ‘Duffman08’ finished in sixth spot to take home $30,804 followed by ‘Redhookesb’ in ninth for $12,601 and ‘RockHound23’ in tenth for $8,261.
Other finishers included Germany’s ‘Hobbybob’ in third for $70,010 followed by Finland’s ‘Etushekki’ in fourth for $56,008 and Canadian player ‘Jlost88’ in fifth for $42,006. Rounding out the top ten was Swedish participant ‘Fiddski’ who finished in eighth spot to take home $21,703.
