Netherlands To Crack Down On Online Gambling
Dutch authorities are aiming to launch a new campaign to eradicate illegal gambling websites in Holland.
High up on the list of targets are thought to be Swedish company Unibet and Dutch firm Oranje Casino. The Dutch government is accusing both of running illegitimate websites in Holland.
'It is illegal to offer gambling services in the Netherlands without a permit,' Reuters quoted a Justice Ministry spokeswoman as saying. 'These companies know they break the law.'
De Lotto, Holland’s state-run sweepstake, is the only company permitted to offer internet-based gambling services but a growing number of online casinos are emerging in the country, analysts say.
In February, the economic community gave Greece and the Netherlands what it described as a final legal warning about the regulation of their casino gaming markets.
