Casino mogul hosts wounded soldiers
Sheldon Adelson, the billionaire who runs the Las Vegas Sands Corporation, funded a trip to gambling capital Las Vegas for 40 wounded soldiers this weekend, it has been reported.
The soldiers took a private jet to the city and as well as taking part in the traditional Vegas pastime of gambling, were taken backstage to spend time with the famous Blue Man Group, and stayed at the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino, according to the Associated Press.
One of the soldiers, who lost his leg in Iraq, plans to marry his fiancé on a white and gold gondola while on the trip courtesy of Mr Adelson.
Organised by the Armed Forces Foundation, the trip brought soldiers from one army and one navy hospital on what was described as a "dream distraction" from where the soldiers were recovering from their injuries.
The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino's newest addition is its almost 11,000 sq ft poker room, boasting 39 tables with a high-stakes area and seven high-limit tables.
