Gaming Tech Summit: BT Makes Case for Online UK Investment
British Telecom was a visible presence this week at the Gaming Technology Summit in Vegas, where it sought to draw attention to investment opportunities in post Gambling Bill Britain. The two-day conference, which took place at the Green Valley Ranch, seeks mainly to address the critical role of technology throughout casino hotels.
BT, which was among the sponsors of the summit, were, however, keen to promote the online and wireless opportunities afforded by emerging technologies and the forthcoming relaxation of gambling legislation in the UK. John Campbell, Vice President of Business Development at BT eLocations, addressed the Wireless Technology conference session on Wednesday and discussed, amongst other things, how Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN) and Bluetooth, are being applied in the gaming sector, the potential for growth, cost implications and other barriers to wide-scale deployment.
“Exciting times lie ahead for the UK gaming industry,” said Mr Campbell. “With over two thirds of the UK’s adult population engaged in gaming and a deregulation of the industry ahead of us, the UK offers significant opportunities to international gaming companies.'
'BT’s participation at the Gaming Technology Summit shows that we are serious about this sector and, with our investment ‘know-how’ and technical expertise, expect to provide real competitive advantage to international gaming companies.'
BT is one of the world’s largest telecommunications companies and, with over three hundred international investments, prides itself on bringing companies to the UK. BT eLocations is BT’s inward investment unit and assists in finding the right location and providing the right technology solution for companies who are looking to set up a new operation in the UK.
