Union Cites Online Gambling As A Threat

At its recent meeting in Nyon, Switzerland, the UNI Gaming Global Union identified the online gambling sector as a threat to land-based operations and agreed to work together to counter the industry.

The gambling union represents nearly 15 million land-based casino employees around the world and claimed that online casinos ‘threaten jobs, creates new revenue that’s not always shared with the workers it depends upon and creates problems of unmonitored, addictive gambling.’

It revealed that bingo constitutes one of the fastest growing niches in the online gaming industry with land-based operations seeing substantial losses recently due to halls closing in response to lost customers and profit downturns.
