Belgians catching up on Internet gambling
In a recent report released earlier this week, by the Belgian Gambling Commission, which supervises wagering, more than 25,000 of Belgium's citizens play on Internet casinos on an average every month.
The report estimates more than 150,000 active gamblers spent estimated 27 million euros (US$32.4 million) on Internet gambling in 2003 alone, with the number expected to grow substantially in 2004, as Internet, TV and tele-betting take off. A large portion of this gambling is still unregulated as is not controlled by the state authorities, which gives scope to under age gambling warns the report.
