In the UK, Gala Bingo has announced a special programme where it will attempt to outdo all other online bingo providers and raise up to two million dollars for the Sue Ryder Care charity over the next 18 months.
A subsidiary of the Barking-based Gala Coral Group Limited, Gala Bingo revealed that fundraising would take place at its 157 land-based halls and through its GalaBingo.co.uk and GalaCasino.co.uk websites.
“Everyone at Gala Coral is delighted to be associated with our chosen charity, Sue Ryder Care, and the outstanding work that they carry out,” said Neil Goulden, Chief Executive Officer for Gala Coral Group.
“We have a long history of raising money for a variety of good causes, now we are focusing on a nominated charity that the whole Group can support. We are positive that the Gala Coral teams will get behind the fundraising initiatives and help to raise as much money as possible.'
Gala Bingo employees voted for the charity, which assists seriously and terminally ill patients along with their families and loved ones in 13 European countries. Sue Ryder Care helps people battling cancer, Multiple Sclerosis, strokes, Parkinson's Disease, Motor Neuron Disease, Huntington's Disease, brain injury and dementia.
“We want to increase the hours of care and support we provide from four million to ten million a year,” said Bridget Auger, Business Development Manager for Sue Ryder Care.
“We’re excited about the potential of the link-up with Gala Coral because of the reach of its retail network and the dedication of its employees who voted us as their charity.”
