Mommy from the block wins US$2.4 million
Guadalupe Lopez, of New York whose claim to fame earlier was being pop singer and actress Jennifer Lopez’s mother now is a millionaire in her own right.
The 58-year old mother of the superstar has won a US$2.4 million jackpot while playing $1 slots at Wheel of Fortune at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City.
Lopez senior was playing when she hit for $2,421,291.76 when she hit the jackpot said the casino.
“We were not aware of any relationship between the jackpot winner and pop celebrity Jennifer Lopez,’ said Michael Facenda, a spokesman for the casino. The celebrity news starved tabloids and magazines such as US Weekly and People report that Guadalupe Lopez is indeed J Lo’s mother. Media reports add that Mrs Lopez plans to use a part of the winnings to start a US$100,000 college fund for her two grandchildren.
The pop star’s publicist Rob Shuter however declined to comment on the issue.
