Brunson To Attend APT Macau

The Asian Poker Tour (APT) has announced that Doyle Brunson will be attending its Macau tournament being held at the Galaxy StarWorld Hotel and Casino beginning on August 27. The Macau event is the second leg of the four-event 2008 APT and will run until August 31 featuring a buy-in of $5,300. Players may also win their seats by qualifying through online satellites being held on top poker rooms such as DafaPoker.com, TitanPoker.com, PartyPoker.com and PKR.com. The Macau event will feature a $1.5 million guaranteed prize pool, the largest in Asia, seeing the winner walk away with $500,000. Brunson, known as ‘Texas Dolly’, is one of the biggest names in the history of poker and his participation is set to further raise the standing of the Asian Poker Tour, which will also feature professionals such as JC Tran, Nam Le, Quinn Do and APT Philippines champion David Saab alongside hundreds of players from around the globe. Aside from playing in the main event, Brunson will also be on hand for a book signing that should attract huge interest. His books, including Super System and Super System II, are considered by many as the most authoritative sources on playing and winning at poker and fans will be able to meet the legendary American while getting their copies signed. Brunson, whose live tournament winnings exceed $5.3 million, is to be joined by his son, Todd, also a professional poker player with over $3.2 million in career earnings. Unlike his father, Todd did not learn the game until he was in law school but has been playing in both cash games and tournaments for the last two decades. Nicknamed ‘Darkhorse’, he also has a World Series of Poker bracelet of his own, making the Brunsons the only father-son combination to have accomplished this feat.
