Traditional alternatives look set to suffer

This summer’s UK gambling bill will set the fuse which will lead to an explosion of casinos across the country. The number of casinos is expected to double to approximately 240 with venues such as London’s Olympia targeted to become Las Vegas-style, and size, locations.

Traditional alternatives to casinos, particularly Bingo halls, look to be hit heavily as conventional betting looks to increase £2 billion by 2010, which would bring the amount spent to over £10 billion a year. According to a Henley Centre report on behalf of Bacta (British Amusement Catering Trade Association) this could total as much as £1 billion a year.

Remote gambling will be another growth area with continuing investment and development in Internet, TV and mobile phone gaming.
