British Columbia Lottery Corp release 4 internet based games
In Canada the British Columbia Lottery Corporation has just launched four products now available for purchase over the internet. Open to any residents aged 19 and over, the new online method of purchasing existing games is now an available option for the following sports based games: Sports Action Point Spread, Oddset, Over/Under and a new Football Pool. The games can be accessed through a website known as PlayNow which is available as a link on the sportsactionbc.com site.
Kevin Gass the Vice President of Corporate Communications and Marketing explained the decision to now offer an internet based service: 'The Internet has changed the way we work, communicate and play. More consumers are choosing to use the Internet to shop, bank and access government services. By offering select lottery games on the Internet, we are providing an alternate way for our players to buy their favourite games.'
The PlayNow site utilises strict safety measures and also employs a code of conduct in at attempt to promote responsible purchase of their products. This includes setting a weekly maximum of $70 that can be spent by one player on any of the games available. Gass added his reasons for concentrating on such safety measures, and encouraging responsible play by imposing this maximum expenditure limit: 'In developing PlayNow, we focused on system integrity and security. As a result, customers can feel confident they are purchasing lottery products in a regulated online environment they can trust.'
The Vice President of the corporation Jim Lightbody also added comments, primarily describing the new game accommodated on the site, the Football Pools. 'Everything is easy to use - just point and click. Players will be excited to learn that there is also a new game in the Sports Action lineup. The new Football Pool game has a $10,000 guaranteed jackpot each week and can only be purchased through the PlayNow site”.
