Intertops.com releases tinsel town wagering
It's that time of the year. With the Golden Globes just closing this week, movie fans and online bettors can't wait to get a slice of the real movie awards - The 76th Academy Awards.
The St.John's licensed sports betting site Intertops.com has started taking bets on the up and coming Oscar awards.
According to the team at Intertops.com which is keeping a close watch on Hollywood's creme de la creme, the
third and final instalment of the Lord of the Rings will return as the king of the ceremony with their odds at 1/2 for Best Picture and 1/2 for Best Director.
Intertops.com Chief Bet Manager Michael Maerz says, 'Being big movie fans, we always enjoy making odds on the Oscars. Last year Chicago picked up six awards, this year there's a great mix of nominations for serious film buffs with Tolkien's trilogy being worth a bet'.
The racing horse-saga Seabiscuit has a long shot at the finishing like coming in last at 15/1. While, Intertops.com says someone's gotta give Diane Keaton an Oscar for Best Actress at 3/4, as bettors are choosing goldies (the Oscar statuette) for oldies.
Bill Murray is favorite for Best Actor, 5/4, for his performance in Lost in Translation, directed by the Godfather Coppola's daughter Sofia Coppola.
The Oscars are expected to kick off at the Kodak theatre on February 29, 2004 - more than 4 weeks from now, the online betting action is only excepted to hotten up says the operator.
