Court Throws Out CasinoCity Case

CasinoCity.com’s attempt to take the Department of Justice to court for infringement of free speech has, it appears, failed. On Monday the United States District Court for the Middle District upheld the government’s call for the case to be dismissed, effectively ending the gaming portal’s fight for the right to advertise gambling on the internet.

The suit, which was filed last August, claimed that the Department of Justice is violating the principles of the First Amendment by warning broadcasters who advertise for the online gambling industry that they may face prosecution if they continue to do so.

Company CEO, Michael Corfman, said at the time: “The public has the right to see the wealth of information we provide on casinos and sportsbooks, and we have the First Amendment right to advertise online gaming on the web to support its free publication.'
