Internet gambling boom for ten-year anniversary
As the online casino industry approaches its ten-year anniversary, more and more Americans are choosing to gamble from home rather than brave the casinos.
More than five million accounts have been opened on internet gambling sites in the last ten years, according to a recent report from the US Government Accountability Office.
The number is set to increase to 7.4 million in the next year, and St Louis-based gambling analysts The River City Group says the most popular game is poker.
Online casino, CasinoFortune.com claims that the highest concentration of players is in the Midwest states where more than 420,000 players are spread among Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri and Ohio.
Experts predict the industry will only get bigger as technology improves and more people become computer literate.
