Peter Gunnarson Scoops an Award from WilliamHillPoker.com
Sweden’s Peter Gunnarson has capped off recent tournament successes by being voted WilliamHillPoker.com European rankings (powered by PokerInEurope.com) player of the month for May.
The trophy was awarded to Peter by a panel of esteemed judges after an outstanding performance in winning the 2005 World Heads Up Poker Championships in May. The event, held at the Gran Casino de Barcelona, also earned Peter winnings of 100,000 euros.
The young Swede impressed many on the way to his big win. He was described as playing in a ‘somewhat Zen-state of mind’ all week, with a very smooth rhythm, and when it mattered most, found the calmness to come up with the correct decision.
“The World Heads Up Championship is a fantastic event as it pits poker mind against poker mind. Peter's win in this high class field gave him the unanimous vote as this months WilliamHillPoker.com European Poker rankings player of the month”, Phil Quayle, William Hill’s poker room manager, commented.
