Millionaire Contestant to go to WSOP

Forty-one year old pharmacist and 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire' winner David Meyer, has announced that he intends to use the part of the £125,000 he won on last Saturday’s show to buy himself a seat at the 2005 WSOP. The poker enthusiast, from Edinburgh says it is his dream to play at the $10,000 buy-in tournament, which last year yielded a first prize of $5 million. He took up poker around seven years ago when Edinburgh’s Maybury Hotel was transformed into a casino and has since travelled the world entering tournaments. Last year he won the Euro finals event in Paris.

He said: 'The World Series is the most glamorous poker event and every player would love to have a go at it. Over the years, my poker has earned me money. It’s a hobby that pays for itself.'

Meyer showed the cool head of a poker pro and walked away with the massive check after opting not to go for the quarter of a million question, having used up all his lifelines.
