It seems that the rise and rise of online gambling is always in the news, as share prices in gaming companies soar and millions of pounds are wagered every hour. There has been plenty of profit, for both online casinos and their shareholders but who is actually laying all those bets?
Research recently carried out in the United States has uncovered a surprising statistic, that 53 percent of online gamblers are women. The survey also showed that 45 percent of players liked to play poker via the Internet with women comprising the vast majority of this demographic. It is predicted that this trend is likely to continue, with the number of females gambling online showing a steady increase.
