A law passed in Nevada, US could change the face of the gambling industry. Governor Kenny Guinn, has made the state of Nevada the first to legalise mobile gaming. The new legislation is likely to give casinos access to whole new markets as it will allow gamblers to make bets, play poker or shoot dice on the move.
For now the mobile devices will only be allowed inside casinos and even then with a raft of other restrictions. The new law has had several influential backers, including Cantor Fitzgerald LP, a New York finance company and slot machine company International Game Technology.
Cantor Fitzgerald has been developing a checkbook sized mobile device, already in use in the UK. The devices will be encrypted to prevent fraud, possibly utilising fingerprint reading technology.
