Bodog.com, the online sportsbook and casino, has posted odds on whether a Major League Baseball star will be suspended for using banned substances this season. The odds have been offered in response to the recent banning of Rafael Palmeiro, of the Baltimore Orioles, who tested positive for steroids.
“It is big news when you hear about a player with 3,000 career hits testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs,” said Calvin Ayre, Bodog.com’s founder. “But not entirely surprising, especially in light of Major League Baseball’s commitment to revamping its drug-testing policy.”
Palmeiro, a prolific MLB star, has been banned for 10 games joining several other high profile players such as Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa who have been suspected of using illegal performance-enhancing steroids.
Bodog.com is offering odds of -200 on whether another star, with 200 plus home runs, will be suspended by the end of the season.
