Pressure is mounting to ban all forms of online casino television ads in line with the current assessment of on- and offline gambling legislation. Ongoing disputes against the Canadian authorities, questioning the illegal status on online gaming advertising, have not eased the uncertainty.
Many online casinos, exploring a current loophole in the system, feature ads on Canadian television as airtime dedicated to online poker tournaments increases in line with consumer demand. Online casinos can advertise free gaming features on television, avoiding the gambling issue, although this is unlikely to remain a possibility in the near future.
