The Paddy Power Poker Christmas Cracker No Limit Hold ‘Em tournament, held in the Sporting Emporium, Dublin, on Saturday 18th December attracted a dream line-up which included some of the legends of the game.

Irish professionals Andy Black, Liam Flood, Padraig Parkinson, Scott Gray, and Rory Liffey sat at the felt with snooker legend Ken Doherty and comedian Tommy Tiernan in a lively but gruelling game.

Black and Parkinson crash out uncharacteristically early and Tiernan also took an early bath. Ken Doherty edged close to the money but got snookered by the eventual winner. Flood built a substantial chip lead only to lose it near the death, and local heroes Harold Huberman and Goran Tomic did a deal to spilt the 1st and 2nd prize to take home a Christmas cracking €13,000 each.

Many players at the event acknowledged the tournament was one of the best they’d ever played.

Len ‘Fatboydim’ Collin, member of the Irish team for the paddypowerpoker.com Grand Slam 2006, said “Great game, great field... easily the best tourney of the year so far.”

Dave ‘BigDragon’ Kingston also gave the player-friendly structure the thumbs-up. “Well what can I say? The best tournament that I have ever played in.”
