Groundhog Day at Online Casino
Many will remember the classic comedy ‘Groundhog Day’, starring the legendary Bill Murray, in which his character is forced to live and relive the same day over and over again. The film was loosely based on actual events, which take place in Punxsutawney every year.
As the theory goes in Punxsutawney, a groundhog named ‘Phil’ is released during winter and if, upon releasing him from his cage, Phil sees his own shadow then there will be six further weeks of winter. However, if Phil does he his own shadow then spring will come early. The tradition dates back to 1887 and Phil has seen his own shadow 95 times out of 118.
Now, online casinos are looking to cash in on the cult event by offering odds on whether or not Phil will see his own shadow. At present the odds are 1/3 that Phil will see his shadow and 11/5 that he doesn’t.
