Settlement Looming in Online Casino Dispute
PartyGaming are reportedly on the brink of an out of court settlement with Empire Online.
The rift between the two online giants began last year when PartyGaming cut out Empire’s flagship site, Empire Poker from their player pool. Last November, Empire accused Party Gaming of breach of contract and announced it’s attention to sue for ‘substantial damages’.
After the rumours of an out of court settlement surfaced, Empire were quick to substantiate them, declaring that they are very close to a settlement. They would enter into any details about that settlement although the $200 million figure which has been suggested is $300 million short of the figure Empire allegedly demanded at the lawsuit’s outset.
Empire Online did report very positive results for the fourth quarter of 2005 but they have been hit badly by not having their poker room in the PartyGaming pool and the strong figures are believed to me more a marker of the success of their Club Dice Casino and Noble Poker.
