Betcorp Aims to Cross-Sell American Football Fans
Online bookmaker, Betcorp are planning to convert the massive numbers of sports punters who used their service during the American football season to more profitable games such as internet poker.
Betcorp have laid out a strategy, which they believe will convince more sports punters to broaden their gambling tastes.
Chairman, David Hudd said the company hoped to reduce its reliance on sports betting, which accounted for 64% of its gross revenues - by 'cross-selling' poker and casino games.
After taking somewhat of a financial beating in the last quarter of 2005 when NFL enthusiasts heavily backed a string of favourites who won games ahead of the Super Bowl, Betcorp hope that many of those users will now turn to games like poker, which is a relatively non-risk game for Betcorp because its income is generated by charging a percentage fee on each pot played.
