Launching this Saturday (April 1), Paradise Poker’s Masters event is sure to be seen as the latest tournament to challenge Sportingbet’s online poker business. With $4 million in guaranteed prizes over its nine day duration, the event kicks off with a $500 freeze out no limit hold’em tournament, leading up to a final Main Event that has a guaranteed $1 million pot waiting to be won.
There’s a $1,000 buy-in, but once the final table has been established, the tournament will be frozen and become live rather than online, with players heading to the Bahamas and playing in front of spectators and TV cameras. Whoever takes the final table not only takes home a tidy sum but also a $12,000 WSOP Paradise Poker prize package.
Whether the tournament pushes Paradise Poker further into the big league’s remains to be seen, but with decent size prizes on offer and plenty of satellites available now, you wouldn’t want to bet against it.
