International Poker Association Postpones Debut
It’s already been the subject of intense speculation and months of debate over who will take part. And now, just days before it was due to start, The International Poker Association tour has postponed its inaugural event until September.
Since its conversion from the North American Poker Tour, the IPA has had what some might term a difficult birth. And that’s being polite. Name changes, venue announcements and constant rescheduling have only helped to undermine what has the potential to be a world-beating tour. Each tournament carries a guaranteed $2 million prize pool, with only the very best of the poker elite able to challenge.
Initially, the first event was due to take place at the Hollywood Park Casino in Los Angeles. However, with no other events pencilled in until September, organisers decided that it was unfair on the players to have a four-month break so soon.
