Liquor Board Gives In To Charity Poker

The perils of using poker as a charity fundraiser came to haunt Bob Bode this January, when a game held to try and rise money to treat his colon cancer was raided and the proceeds confiscated. Last week however, Mike Bode, Bob’s brother, managed to convince the State Liquor Board, who had taken the $6,000, to give the money back. 'I had to kind of plead my case to the commission board up there and tell them the money was all supposed to go directly to my brother,” said Mike. “After they heard my story, they were more than willing to let me have the money back.” The board however, has refused to admit any wrongdoing in the case. Let this be a lesson to anyone looking to do good through poker. No matter what your intentions. The game is always going to be frowned upon by the men in suits. Best to stick to playing down at the local casino.
