Online Casinos Reaping Rewards from Poker Revenue
Poker’s rise to prominence through television and entertainment exposure has recently been driving more and more people to the online casino, wanting to chance their online gambling hands.
Given recent debates highlighting the potential risks of online casino poker, it comes as welcome news to online casinos that poker currently accounts for over half of their revenue, and that demand for the latest poker games is greater than ever.
Two years ago, one of the most successful online casino poker companies, Leisure & Gaming decided to develop its own poker site and today its business is valued at £92 million pounds sterling. The company’s 2005 results revealed online casino profits of $13.2 million U.S. dollars before tax, which was a 26% increase on the previous annual figure, driven largely by their online poker outlet.
Leisure & Gaming will be using profits to spearhead several planned acquisitions of smaller gaming companies to solidify its interest outside the U.S., and to continue development of their new online bingo products.
