Teddy Sheringham Makes Poker Debut
Premiership footballer Teddy Sheringham this week made his debut in a new sport this week, taking on top poker professionals at the World Poker Tour (WPT) Mandalay Poker Championship in Las Vegas.
Sheringham is competing against some of the world’s top poker players at WPT's premiere poker tournament for an estimated first prize of US $4 million. Sheringham represents VC Poker.com, for whom he recently made his debut as online ambassador, taking on online players from all over the world.
'It's a great step from the East End of London to the Wild West of Vegas but I reckon playing poker at the top level takes as much nerve as playing top soccer,” admits Sheringham. “Professional poker is something which seriously interests me as a career once I finally have to call it a day on the soccer field and I am delighted to be associated with the VC Poker community.”
