Australian Online Casino to Float Down Under
Rumours of stock market floatations are commonplace in the online casino industry, with new firms being touted to float each week, and the most recent focuses on Australian online casino and sports betting site Centre Bet.
According to the Australian media, the Sydney-based online casino firm is expected to list publicly in the United Kingdom before the end of 2006. As of yet the management of the online casino firm has refused to comment the rumours, yet they have reportedly indicated that an announcement will be made in the coming months.
Online casino analysts have suggested that a British listing is imminent due to the interest generated by sports betting at the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany. Currently, wagers made by European online casino fans account for approximately half of Centre Bet's sports betting revenue.
Similar rumours have also focused on British online casino firm Gala Coral this week, after a statement made by its chief executive officer was interpreted as hinting at a possible float. According to online casino analysts, Gala Coral may be planning an IPO of 5.5 billion pounds sterling within the next 18 months.
