The first legalised poker site is to be launched in the US- a site which hosts the game as a fundraising tool for charities. The site is being developed by PokerBook Gaming Corporation, a company which develops and sells software for internet gaming, poker and bingo sites to licensed operators globally.
The site, www.worldpokerchariytour.com, will allow charities to sign up and run their own poker tournaments online, through a club known as the Fantasy Poker Club (FPC). This club will aid the charities in setting up, running and obtaining prizes from sponsors for the online tournaments, and will receive a fund raising fee for their part in the process.
CEO of PokerBook, Jack Owens, released the following statement to make the announcement about the new site: 'We are really excited to announce the first legalized poker gaming site in the United States. PokerBook Gaming Corporation is the first to organize legal, online Texas Hold'em Poker Tournaments for charity fundraising! PokerBook Gaming will target and contract only licensed Non-Profit 501(c)3 Large Corporations with established Donor contributor bases. This will give them the ability to cash in on the world Poker craze for fundraising. PokerBook Gaming Corporation's FANTASY POKER CLUB'S WORLD TOUR, scheduled for launch September 2004, will give charities the ability to use the Internet in a revolutionary new way!'
