Ladbrokes Poker Million Enticing Poker Punters
Ladbrokes has said that its poker tournament, The Ladbrokes Poker Million II – The Masters, has been attracting a lot of betting interest, particularly on the web, thanks in no small part to extensive coverage by Sky Sports. Ladbrokes opened the markets earlier this week on tonight’s (Friday’s) final to a flurry of wagering enthusiasm.
Six players out of an original seventy-eight remain to do battle tonight in a game that will be shown live on Sky. Most fancied to claim the £160,000 ($300,000) prize is Irish card shark Donnacha O'Dea at 5-2, closely followed by the much-feared Dave 'Devilfish' Ulliot, currently ranked number one in Europe, at 11-4.
Of the six contenders, three qualified for the tournament playing online at the Ladbrokes poker site, amongst them Zac Goldsmith, editor of The Ecologist Magazine, and heir to the Goldsmith billions. Zac, at 5-1, is a keen recreational player and represents the continued invasion of Internet amateurs into the top flights of professional poker.
Last years surprise winner was snooker player, Jimmy White, who had been drafted in to help increase publicity for the tournament.
