Former England cricketer, Ed Giddins, is to join the Great Poker League (GPL) as a sponsored player.
Giddins has an impressive record at online poker and has won some notable events. In recent times he has also worked as a poker commentator, but is best known for his four test match appearances and stints at Sussex, Surrey and Warwickshire in County Cricket.
He will lead Team GPL into prestigious games throughout Europe, alongside GPL Marketing Director, Colin Hawker, and the yet-to-be-decided top ranked player from the GPL Annual League.
The battle for the top spot in the league, which entitles the winner to Team GPL sponsorship and $3,000, looks like a two-horse race between long-time leader 'JonesyFish' and 'dumpapp'.
Colin Hawker said, “We are thrilled to have Ed on board. As well as being a good poker player and a well-known face on the circuit, he is also great fun to be with. Myself, Ed and the final member of Team GPL are sure to have a lot of fun next year, and fingers crossed, we might even get some results, too.”
