A small-scale survey conducted in the US seems to support suspicions that American gamblers are ignoring the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) and continuing to go all-in online.

When Senator Bill First forced through the UIGEA, protests were already underway, and they continue to this day, attracting the support of leading film and sports stars, journalists and everyday poker enthusiasts across America and even further afield. But despite the new law, many Americans are apparently still finding ways to square up to each other on the virtual felt.

Poker Affiliates United, who maintain websites keeping players informed of changes in the law, decided to find out how many US players were still sitting down at the virtual tables.

160 poker players were asked: “Do you still play online Poker?” and “If you do not play online anymore, would you, if you knew where to play?”

The results were astounding. 56 per cent admitted that they are still playing online, while 78 per cent of people who were not currently playing said that they would play, if they knew where would accept them.
