Organisers will be hoping there’s no smoke on the water as The Showdown Poker Tour kicks off at the Casino de Montreux on February 1. Betfair Poker will be offering online players the chance to qualify.
Some of Europe’s top players are expected to attend, looking for a relaxing atmosphere and player-friendly structure.
Betfair Poker players will be able to enter online satellites for a stab at the $9,000 main event package which includes the entry fee, flights and accommodation. The main event will be limited to 100 players.
With Montreux’s prime location on Lake Geneva and the area’s skiing and shopping, the organisers hope this will prove to be one of the more attractive tournaments for players this spring.
Daily online turbo satellites ranging from $8.80 to $44 will lead to a weekly satellite final every Thursday for $320, with one $9,000 package guaranteed.
