EPT kicks off in Poland

The first European Poker tour event in Poland has begun with a strong showing from Norwegian and Swedish players. At the end of the day the field fell from 139 to 70 players, with the following taking the top spots:

80,800 - Henning Granstad (Norway)

79,000 - Patric Martensson (Sweden)

61,300 - Raymi Sanchez Thorn (Sweden)

60,600 - Thomas Mathiesen (Norway)

58,800 - Leszek KrawczyDski (Poland)

56,600 - Thomas Osmun (USA)

Casino Poland, at the Hyat Regency in Warsaw is hosting the event, and unfortunately space is limited to only 15 tables. Last weeks EPT Dortmund winner, Andreas Hoivold started well, battling it out with US player Osum, with nearly 10% of the chips between them.

Jim Kerrigan from the UK was also doing well, along with fellow Brits Spencer Lawrence, Paul McCann and Kevin Love. PokerStars qualifier Simon Young (“SuffolkPunch”) had nightmare table positioning, up against Ireland’s Andrew Black, a WSOP bracelet holder and, Ramzi Jelassi from Sweeden and EPT Copenhagen winner Mads Andersen. He managed to survive with 13,000 chips.

Roland de Wolfe had been tipped to win by some, but despite some big wins early on, he will not make it to the second day. Other surprise depatures include Dave Colclough and Praz Bansi.
