Svenska Spel Tells Players - Don’t Play Too Much

State-owned Swedish gaming operator Svenska Spel is taking social responsibility within its advertising to unusual heights.

The tagline ‘Don’t play too much!’ – a seemingly unusual slogan for a gambling website, government-run or otherwise – will now reportedly be included in all future marketing and advertising by the company via a distinctive, branded logo.

“We want to encourage players to reflect on their gaming habits and to make use of the responsible-gambling tools that we offer,” explained Svenska Spel CEO Jesper Karrbrink. “We want to say that gambling should be a pleasure and nothing else. You should play to have fun.”

The move comes as part of a larger initiative by Svenska Spel to demonstrate that the consumer’s wellbeing is of the utmost importance. As part of this drive, the company’s online poker site lets its players place restrictions on themselves by choosing the length of time that they want to play poker and also the maximum deposit level that they can make in any set period of time.

Svenska Spel also commented that it spends considerably less money per player on advertising compared with private companies which, it says, shows that they are more responsible. They also claim to do little or no advertising of “more dangerous” games like poker and casino.
