Online Casino Provider to Up its Game for 2008
Top gambling software developer Playtech, has announced that next year's profits are set to sky rocket over analysts' predictions as new markets, technology and games help it bounce back from the damage caused by the US’s introduction of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement ACT (UIGEA).
Since Playtech’s departure from the US market post UIGEA, a law which makes it illegal for banking facilities to accept money transfers to and from online gambling sites, it has been has been steering it’s European market base, to play its poker games, developing new games targeted at Asian gamblers and working on computer-linked machines for land based casinos.
Avigur Zmora, Playtech's Head of Business Development, said the work the company was currently undertaking would drive up next years profits above analysts' forecasts.
‘The upgrade in the numbers will probably be in the 2008 numbers. As far as 2007 it's in-line with our expectations the numbers that are out there seems to be OK,’ he said.
