World Poker Tour: Biggest Ever Prize Pool
The second season of the World Poker Tour finishes this Friday, with one player set to cash in $2.7 million worth of chips – a world record…at least until someone wins the expected $3 million at the World Poker Series at the end of May. But until then the winner’s prize exceeds that of any North American sporting event ever and the total prize pool is an amazing $8.6 Million.
Doug Dalton, director of poker operations at Bellagio, where the contest is being held said, 'We are proud of our partnership with the World Poker Tour and what we've accomplished for poker and its players in just 15 months. We appreciate the contributions of everyone at the WPT and all of our supporters to help pull off the most successful finale in the history of poker. It is the highlight of the year for Bellagio, our poker players and guests.'
This year’s WPT attracted 343 players to the Bellagio compared with 111 last year, when Alan Goehring walked away with a cool $1,011,886.
