Sportech to Forge Ahead With Vernons Acquisition
Sportech, the owner and operator of betting brand Littlewoods Gaming, is set to continue with it plans to purchase the Vernons football pools business, one of its key competitors.
The surprise move follows the decision, made by the Office of Fair Trading, to refer the merger to the Competition Commission.
Sportech has forged a mutual agreement with Ladbrokes plc to acquire the business and will co-operate with the Competition Commission's enquiry, which is set to present its decision on October 17, 2007.
Through the Littlewoods Gaming brand, Sportech has over 1.5 million customers offering a multitude of games including football pools, spot the ball and a casino brand offering Blackjack, Poker, Baccarat and Roulette.
