Online Casino’s Pope-Mobile Back on Ebay
Golden Palace is renowned for somewhat obscure sponsorships, and the purchases of bizarre items from the celebrity world, so it came as no surprise to hear that it had bought the Pope’s old car back in 2005.
The 1999 Volkswagen Golf, which was once owned by Pope Benedict XVI, (then Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger), is now back up for sale on the Ebay auction site, with the proceeds of the sale promised to Habitat for Humanity Great Britain.
The online casino states that the car has not been driven since 2005, and has just 46,000 miles on the clock. Golden Palace paid €189,000 for the car, after the German owner placed the vehicle for auction, again on Ebay, following Pope Benedict’s election to the papacy.
The auction closes an April 10, with the current value standing at $200,000.
