WSOP Europe Attracts Poker’s Elite
The World Series Of Poker (WSOP) has announced that its inaugural European tournament will see some of the biggest names in poker.
Pre-registration for the WSOP Europe event has been open for two weeks and over 60 bracelet winners have already paid the £10,000 entry fee to take part in the London Main Event.
Phil Hellmuth, Doyle Brunson, Phil Ivey, Erik Seidel, Roland De Wolfe, John Juanda, Allen Cunningham, Todd Brunson, Eli Elezra, Howard Lederer, Humberto Brenes and Jennifer Harman are just some of the famous names that have already secured their seats.
“I’m going to London to make history again by winning the first WSOP bracelet ever awarded outside of Las Vegas,” said Hellmuth, who recently won a record-breaking eleventh WSOP bracelet.
Betfair, who has set aside 125 seats for online qualifiers, is sponsoring the event, which will take place September 6 to16 at three casinos operated by London Clubs International.
“We want to have a strong presence on the ground at this event,” said Ben Fried, Head of Poker for Betfair. “It’s a fantastic opportunity for our players to compete against some of the greatest in the world.”
Former WSOP Main Event winner Jamie Gold has also announced that he will play in the tournament, the first World Series event to be held outside North America.
“There are over 60 WSOP bracelets between the pre-registrants so far,” said Jeffrey Pollack, Commissioner for WSOP. “The inaugural World Series Europe will have a world-class field.”
