According to a report in the Vancouver Sun, the bullet riddled body of 45-year-old James Po Ho Cheung, the President and Chief Executive Officer for Costa Rica-based online sportsbetting website 777Betz.com, was found in his car outside his home over the weekend.
The newspaper reports that police in Vancouver suspect murder but have yet to establish any suspects or a motive. Cheung’s body was found by a police patrol after residents of the area reported hearing gunshots in the early hours of Saturday morning. An autopsy was performed Monday with the crime scene and Cheung's vehicle undergoing forensic inspection.
Cheung ran 777 Sports Entertainment Group, founded in 2005, with its online gaming operations conducted from San Jose, Costa Rica. Last year the company announced that operations at 777Betz.com would be expanded using the Chimera wireless online gambling platform. 777Betz.com offers multi-player card games including Texas Hold'em, Omaha, Seven-Card Stud and Chinese Poker, as well as sportsbetting.
