Online casino 888.com has announced that it is to sponsor legendary Australian cricketer Shane Warne as he embarks on a new career as a professional poker player.
The Gibraltar-licensed company stated that the fast-bowler would represent 888.com and subsidiary Pacific Poker at major poker events around the world including the prestigious World Series Of Poker, which was won by Aussie Joe Hachem in 2005.
Warne’s new career will see him travel to the United States, UK, New Zealand and possibly South Africa over the next twelve months with more dates a real possibility.
'Nothing will replace the 20 years of cricket in my life but there are a lot of similarities,'' said Warne.
'It's a game of skill. You have to be disciplined.'
