Following the recent legal stand taken by casinocity.com against the prohibition of gambling advertising in the US, Online bookmaker, BetOnSports.com, has responded with an altogether more ‘in your face‘ tactic. As igamingnews.com has reported, the Costa-Rica based sportsbook has taken to the US cable airwaves with a series of advertisements designed to raise awareness of the plight of online casinos and drum up public support for their cause.
The company plans initially to show the advertisements on 25 stations over the next months, which are patriotic in tone and urge the public to defend free speech and visit www.betonsports.com/freedom to sign a petition. The first ad went out on cable channel, SpikeTV.
David Caruthers, CEO of BetOnSports, told igamingnews.com: 'The ads are in conjunction with an online campaign and billboards we have taken out,' Caruthers said. 'There will also be ads in newspapers across the entire country. We wanted to turn up our lobbying efforts and focus on more of a grassroots campaign to make the public aware that the government is trying to prevent them from having freedoms on the Internet.'
