Internet Gambling Offices Centre Threatened By Demonstrations
In the Philippines, students from Angeles University Foundation Professional School staged demonstrations earlier this week at the site of the planned Emaja Internet Gaming Enterprises.
The operator of the planned online gambling site, Emmanuel Jacinto of Barangay Salapungan, stated that a misunderstanding regarding the business’ proximity to the School caused the demonstrations. According to guidelines from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCor), any Internet casino must not be within 200 metres of a school and church. Jacinto stated that the demonstrations have disrupted his plans along with traffic despite the fact that he received permission from PAGCor as the site for the planned centre is 206 metres from the School.
'Our business is legal and we do not violate any laws,' said Jacinto.
The Emaja Internet Gaming Enterprise would be the third online casino in the city and Jacinto plans to offer games such as slot machines, blackjack and baccarat.
Local police have reportedly been keeping an eye on the situation with Jacinto stating that the site would open for business soon.
