Hundreds flee casino fire
Almost 300 people have been evacuated from the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut after a fire broke out on its roof.
Some 280 guests were evacuated from the Great Cedars Hotel at the Foxwoods Resort Casino, although no one was injured.
But as a precaution, gamblers were forced to flee the casino floor too after a security guard stationed across from the building spotted a blaze on the roof.
It took more than 50 firefighters the best part of half a day to extinguish the flames, which started burning next to a mechanical equipment room near the roof.
Casino staff moved those who lost their rooms to other Foxwoods Resort Casino hotels although some had to stay at a rival hotel in a nearby town.
Although the casino is set to reopen, the hotel will remain closed for several days as water has damaged the building.
Last week, more than 5,000 guests were evacuated from the Monte Carlo Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas Strip after a rooftop fore broke out.
