Progressive’s Server-Based Poker Approved

Progressive Gaming International Corporation, an American supplier of integrated casino and jackpot management solutions, has announced that its new World Series of Poker Texas Hold’em peer-to-peer console software has been approved by the Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) testing agency.

Progressive Gaming signed a limited exclusive license agreement with Harrah’s Licensing Company to develop the World Series of Poker brand as a systems-based gaming product with the software soon appearing in Harrah’s casinos.

The multi-player poker system is designed to allow patrons to compete against other players over a real-time secure intranet server with operators able to offer an unlimited number of tables alongside a variety of configurations and limits while tracking play and delivering promotions through existing player rewards systems.

Progressive Gaming said that the system features many of the popular features of ‘Internet style’ poker including cashless account-based wagering, the option to play multiple tables or tournaments at the same time and the ability for a player to view their account history, a summary of recently-played games and a statistical breakdown of their play.

Poker players will now be able to participate in World Series of Poker peer-to-peer Texas Hold’em games against opponents located across multiple properties from a variety of locations within a casino including from bars, restaurants or lounges.

“World Series of Poker peer-to-peer Texas Hold’em server-based gaming system provides operators with the ability to generate additional gaming revenue without the need to replace existing gaming units on their casino floors,” said Derek Harmer, Senior Vice-President of Global Sports and Wireless Operations for Progressive Gaming.

“The product recreates the excitement of an Internet poker room within the confines of a regulated casino and its functionality allows operators to leverage available floor space that previously was not used for gaming options.'
