British Workers Union Goes to Vegas
Great Britain’s general union, GMB, has sent a delegation to Vegas to meet US casino workers ahead of changes in gaming legislation, which may attract US operators to British shores. The delegation is meeting members of UNITE union’s hotel and casino worker’s branch this Thursday and Friday, in order to familiarise itself with the companies most likely to start operating casinos in the UK and ensure that UK workers will be treated fairly.
Delegation member, Paul Kenny, said: “We are going to Las Vegas to get information on how the massive American casino companies which have set their sights on the UK’s casino business do things.
“The deregulation of the gaming industry in Britain has many consequences for the country and the GMB intend to ensure that the workers in the industry do not miss out on any benefits.
