CasinoRed.com To Support CRY
Gibraltar-registered CasinoRed.com has announced that it has donated advertising space to the Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) charity in a bid to raise awareness in the West Yorkshire area of England.
The online casino sponsors the Huddersfield Giants rugby Super League team and has replaced its logo with that of CRY’s on all children’s replica shirts.
“CasinoRed.com is delighted to be in the fortunate position of being able to assist CRY, a tremendous charity, to raise its profile, especially among the young people of Huddersfield and the West Yorkshire area, said Nicholas Boyes-Hunter, Chief Executive for CasinoRed.com.
CasinoRed.com stated that the donation was prompted by the introduction of the Gambling Industry Code for Responsible Advertising introduced in September 2007 prohibiting advertising online gambling to under-18s.
“Essentially we had a decision to make regarding our shirt sponsorship deal with the Huddersfield Giants,” said Boyes-Hunter.
“The new code would mean the club would have to find an alternative sponsor for children’s shirts. After discussions with the club, we thought it would be a fantastic opportunity to donate the shirt sponsorship to a charity.
“The charity CRY had been made aware to me by friends who competed in a Nike ten kilometre run in memory of one of their close friends who collapsed and died as she finished the British ten kilometre run in 2006, aged just 30. It later transpired that she was suffering from an undetected heart condition.”
CRY stated that at least eight apparently fit and healthy young people below the age of 35 die suddenly in the UK each week from undetected heart conditions. The charity’s aim is to prevent these tragedies by raising awareness, subsidising screen programmes and funding medical research.
